Hiya folks, I’m Kendall from The Confessions of an Odd Duck. Today we interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you my guest (read hijacked) post for this crazy event known as the The Bigger Blog Swap. I promise you’ll be back to normal tomorrow. I think. Me and normal aren’t all that familiar with each other.

Ahem, now here we go.

Folks, I will state for the record now that I am an animal lover. Going to shelters is enough to make my heart crumble into a fine powder.

My chocolate lab, Faith, was adopted from my local shelter.

She’s a prima donna who loves finding ways to terrorize and/or annoy my roommate, nips your fingers if she wants food or just some attention, and thinks my bed is her own personal trampoline. She’s like my baby and I love her to death. When me and a friend stopped by the shelter for her to find a cat, I was playing catch with a litter of german shepard puppies when Faith got in on the game. Even after the other puppies had left, she would not let me get three yards away from me.

I took her home that day.

Sadly, I would soon learn about Faith’s previous owner and just how badly she had been treated. I noticed within the first day of having her that she had a noticeable limp in her hind leg and that she was very small. The latter I assumed was because she was only a month or two old.

I went to the vet where I would find out that not only was Faith eight months old but there was an odd shape in her leg. My first thought was “oh my God, my puppy has a tumour.” The vet shook her head and said it was a BB pellet. A BB pellet?! Someone had shot my puppy, who is one of the most trusting creatures of ever, with a BB gun.

She has been with me about two months now and seems to be doing well. She know weights 13 lbs now as opposed to the 7 when I first found her and has a lot more energy than she did. I promised on that day that I will do all I could to give her a loving home and I will be damned if I fail in that.

The City Of Sin.

Back in Americaland again…

My thoughts on Vegas are kind of mixed. It is quite amazing that it literally appears out of nowhere. One minute you’re driving along a highway (or in our case, being driven in a giant bronze Contiki coach), looking out onto nothing and wondering about the massive billboards asking you if you know where your gun is, and the next minute, you’re surrounded by elaborate themed hotels, where one of those gold windows probably cost more than your entire life savings.

Come nightfall the creepy pimps line the streets and don’t just hand out the hooker cards anymore, they walk around with billboard backpacks advertising Heidi and her ’special skills’. The heat also doesn’t fade once the sun goes down. But, after spending two days in Vegas, I think night time is the best time to see it.

One of my Vegas-Regrets is not collecting the hooker cards like Carlyface did. I was incredibly tame in Vegas. One day I’d like to go back and go batshit crazy, and do things like dance on bars, count cards and get married by Elvis. I’d also like to stay in a hotel that isn’t used by Heidi on an hourly basis.
