2008 Quizzical.

Posted in The Things I Do For The Innernets at 5:20 am by picturesandpostits

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? Went overseas and actually enjoyed it? ahah. No. I let myself fall, and found my puzzle piece.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn’t make any resolutions last year. I decided I’d wing it and see how I went, that way I wouldn’t be disappointed. Turns out I’m far from disappointed… so maybe that no-resolution thing is a better way to go? Secretly I’d hoped I’d end up with a little more confidence. I got a little, but I’m not there yet.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My sister did. To my nephew.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Not this year, no.

5. What countries did you visit? I spent five weeks in the states. I visited… 22 (?) of them.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? I’d like a little more confidence, thanks.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? …. Clearly I am not good at the dates… because I can’t think of any of them. I know there’s one in January, and there’s one in March…

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? My job. Having the balls to get out of a shitty situation before I could be taken advantage of any further. And then being confident enough in an interview to land my dream job.

9. What was your biggest failure? I kind of sucked with keeping up the photography thing… I didn’t enter a competition shot this year, which was disappointing.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? HAHAHAHA… Where do I start? I got sick in February after the Backstreet Boys concert, then consistently throughout the year, all of which were put down to sinus problems and infections and there was the incident of the e-coli….then I was diagnosed with my kidney thinger, and since then I’ve had stomach bugs and more infections and all sorts of delights.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Can I say the whole of the America tour? I paid for my flights in 2007, but booked the trip in early January… I think.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? ummmmm….

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? At times, my own.

14. Where did most of your money go? Americaland. OH BOY Americaland.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Americaland… and MrK. Not in that order, though.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008? Its an older song… but I think Everlong.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
(a) Happier or Sadder? Happier.
(b) Thinner or Fatter? About the same. Maybe slightly smaller.
(c) Richer or Poorer? Richer. Now America is paid for, I’m actually saving again! I rock at it!

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Socialising. The awkward always wins.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? worrying and overthinking.

20. How did you spend Christmas in 2008? I was at work! Eating chocolates…

21. Did you fall in love in 2008? More and more every day.

22. How many one-night stands? Oh several.

23. What was your favorite TV program? Its always Gilmore Girls…I don’t usually watch much tv.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? I dislike a few more now than I did this time last year.

25. What was the best book you read? I read In My Skin by Kate Holden at the start of the year and loved it.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery? MrK introduced me to several…

27. What did you want and get? MrK…. My job…

28. What did you want and not get? ummm… I think I’ve been pretty lucky this year.

29. What was your favorite film of this year? I really liked Twilight…

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was 24, and I went for coffee and cake with my sister, my mum and my neice and nephew. Kind of quiet this year because EVERYONE MOVED AWAY, and people were sick leading up to it.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? That pesky geography thing being slightly easier to overcome.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Jeans…T-shirts…Keds… Very lazy dresser, I am.

33. What kept you sane? Mr K and Wallypup. And work to an extent, I think.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Can I still say Jason Mraz?

35. What political issue stirred you the most? The American Election. Although I’ll admit that when I was in the states, I had no idea who Obama was campaigning against… there were only BO ads!

36. Who did you miss? MrK, Aly and Juliekins.

37. Who was the best new person you met? It’s taken me a while to settle in, but now I have, I’m finding that I work with some really awesome people. I also got to meet two lovely ladies in the US, who are nothing short of amazing.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. That it’s not such a bad thing to let people in. It can be scary, but ohmy is it worth it. That and it never hurts to show some clevage….

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. “if everything could ever feel this real forever, if anything could ever be this good again, the only thing I’ll ever ask of you, you’ve got to promise not to stop when I say when” ..Everlong, Foo Fighters.

40. What are your resolutions for 2009? I’ve gone for simple… I’d like to remember to mosturise a bit more. And I’ll keep working on that confidence thing. Maybe I should stop self-sabotaging too….

Hiya folks, I’m Kendall from The Confessions of an Odd Duck. Today we interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you my guest (read hijacked) post for this crazy event known as the The Bigger Blog Swap. I promise you’ll be back to normal tomorrow. I think. Me and normal aren’t all that familiar with each other.

Ahem, now here we go.

Folks, I will state for the record now that I am an animal lover. Going to shelters is enough to make my heart crumble into a fine powder.

My chocolate lab, Faith, was adopted from my local shelter.

She’s a prima donna who loves finding ways to terrorize and/or annoy my roommate, nips your fingers if she wants food or just some attention, and thinks my bed is her own personal trampoline. She’s like my baby and I love her to death. When me and a friend stopped by the shelter for her to find a cat, I was playing catch with a litter of german shepard puppies when Faith got in on the game. Even after the other puppies had left, she would not let me get three yards away from me.

I took her home that day.

Sadly, I would soon learn about Faith’s previous owner and just how badly she had been treated. I noticed within the first day of having her that she had a noticeable limp in her hind leg and that she was very small. The latter I assumed was because she was only a month or two old.

I went to the vet where I would find out that not only was Faith eight months old but there was an odd shape in her leg. My first thought was “oh my God, my puppy has a tumour.” The vet shook her head and said it was a BB pellet. A BB pellet?! Someone had shot my puppy, who is one of the most trusting creatures of ever, with a BB gun.

She has been with me about two months now and seems to be doing well. She know weights 13 lbs now as opposed to the 7 when I first found her and has a lot more energy than she did. I promised on that day that I will do all I could to give her a loving home and I will be damned if I fail in that.
